Below is my QUICK COMPARISON LIST of the Eugene moving companies, with their rates and the most helpful information about each company summarized next to each listing. These are listed in order of the their percent of five star customer reviews across Google and Yelp, mitigated by other pros & cons that AGMC knows about each company.
You can call your chosen company directly, or in some cases where that company has asked AGMC to help book job appointments for them, AGMC can help answer questions about that company and help you book an appointment with them directly if you want, much more quickly than you could do it yourself. In this way, A GREAT MOVING CREW is functioning as a free "open market listing and booking-help service".
Remember, if I help you book an appointment with any companies listed here with my gold star (shown below) you will be saving $5/mhr off their regular hourly rate, and I will be backing that appointment with my own separate $1,000 Happiness Guarantee*.
THE LIST
OREGON VALLEY COASTAL MOVERS
Owned by Grant Garoutte, this small pack & load service has THE best customer feedback history I know of (besides my old record). Their customers say they are reliable, professional, friendly, prompt, and they show up in uniform. They offer a Satisfaction Guarantee, and if they damage something they repair, replace, or compensate for it in full, at your valuation, immediately (up to $2,000 unless you add more insurance). They have an excellent equipment set, provide doorway and floor protection, carpet protection film, and even booties if needed. They have never missed an appointment in all their years of doing business.
For labor only they are $60/hr per mover (or $55/hr per mover if you book thru AGMC with my volume discount), with a two hour minimum. It would cost you about another $50 +gas for your whole day use of a small rental truck, or about $80 + gas for a large rental truck (for local jobs), plus the cost of any packing materials used. They start their clock when they arrive at your house and stop their clock when they're done moving your last item (for local jobs), subtracting break times. They don't charge extra for weekends or overtime hours. They are basically the best service at the best price, and so are my TOP recommendation, if they are available at the time you need them.
Grant has asked AGMC (me, Phil of AGMC) to help book appointments for him, and he keeps me updated on his availability schedule, so if you call me at 541 636-7386 and say you'd like to book an appointment with "Oregon Valley Coastal Movers" or "Grant", I can reliably answer your call, answer your questions, and can set you up with an appointment with Grant's services directly.
Tidy Transitions is owned by Shelly St. Clair, and is a packing and cleaning service only. They pack things such as kitchen dishes and smaller items into boxes, doing so expertly, but they don't move furniture. Shelly is the best packer I have ever seen. Her packing services are $60/hr per packer (or $55/hr per packer if you book thru AGMC) for labor, plus reimbursement for packing material costs. They do offer and honor a Satisfaction Guarantee, and cover up to $1,000 of damages, unless you add more insurance. Shelly is a hard worker, she's quick, and has a proven many year history record of being very honest. Shelly is the best value per dollar for packing that I know of. Shelly also does good cleaning work.
Shelly has asked AGMC (me, Phil) to help book appointments for her, and she keeps me updated on her availability schedule, so if you call A Great Moving Crew (Phil) at 541 636-7386 and say you'd like to book an appointment with "Tidy Transitions" or "Shelly", AGMC will reliably answer your call, answer your questions, and can set you up with an appointment with Shelly's services directly.
WDA MOVERS
Owned by Vic & Loni, WDA is one of the best FULL SERVICE large moving companies in Eugene that I know of. These guys have a reputation for doing good work and being reliable. They charge the "Standard Tariff" for the Eugene area, the exact same price as nearly every other moving company in Eugene, which is as follows:
$156.60 per hour for two men and a truck, plus another $60.70/hr per extra man. Overtime hours cost $203.25 per hour for two men and a truck, plus $84/hr per extra man. On Sundays & Holidays it's $248.05 per hour for two men and a truck, plus $106.50/hr per extra man. These rates start and end at the company's terminal, meaning the charged clock begins when they leave their warehouse, and ends when they arrive back at their warehouse after your job, adding about another half hour onto your charged time (past the time they're at your job sites). Boxing & material supplies are an additional cost. Unless you pay more for additional damage-loss insurance, the above rates only come with a damage-loss coverage of sixty (60) cents per pound of any lost or damaged article, which is the standard in the moving industry. That works out to about $30 for your broken flat screen TV.
When the term "standard tariff" is used in any of the further company listing descriptions below, these are the rates and policies being described, so I won't repeat the definition.
WDA has also been in business for 24 years. Their phone is 541 625-4679. If you call them, please tell Vic that Phil (from AGMC) referred you.
JASON & JASON'S RELOCATIONS
(OUT OF PORTLAND OR.)
This is the only moving company I am listing that's from out of town, but I'm making this exception because this is the only moving company out of Portland Oregon that I have heard only good things about from many customers I've worked with, and there's lots of times people are looking for a good company up in Portland. They charge the standard Tariff rates for the Portland area.
Just call them direct: 503 573-9824
The owner David Priest is a very long experienced mover, and most of his customers have reported being very happy with his service. However, I don't see a business registry for them, and they cover only 60 cents per pound of a damaged item. They're also a bit of an unknown to AGMC as far as their qualifications, record of being on time, equipment, supplies, insurance, and actual skills at moving, although they might be just fine at these. But his customers do seem to love him.
They charge $55 per mover with a two hour minimum for labor only (a pack & load service), plus you'd be paying for a truck rental and packing materials if you need any of those.
David has asked AGMC to help arrange appointments for him, and he keeps me updated on his schedule, so as long as you don't hold AGMC responsible for any problems you may have with David's company, if you want to book David's services, you can call AGMC at 541 636-7386, and say that you're interested in booking "Sunny Dispositions" or "David's services".
ELITE RELOCATION SERVICES
They're a big FULL SERVICE company that also does long distance moves. Mostly good reviews, But no Satisfaction Guarantee, and that matters when something goes wrong. They have some skilled movers there, but I've heard they also have a mix of skill levels of who they sometimes send to your job. They charge the Standard Tariff and have the standard tariff policies for the Eugene area. The owner is Shawn Jones is a top notch very experienced mover. You can call them directly at 541 246-5256. Please let them know Phil at AGMC referred you if you call them. or go to their website at: https://www.eliterelocationservices.com/
Movinghelp is a U-Haul affiliate company that provides a listing and booking-help service (much like AGMC is doing here). When you go to their website and type in the date you want service, their website will automatically remove any company names off their list that are not available on your chosen date, saving you from wasting time looking at companies that are not available anyway. There are both good and bad companies listed on their site (just like on this site), so you should look at the reviews.
When you book a company on their website, you can only book labor only services (pack & load), so you'd also need to book, pay for, and drive a U-Haul truck yourself. All these companies listed on that site have their own different rates as posted on that site.
If you do book on that site, you prepay on their website for your chosen number of labor hours, and that site only pays your moving-help crew if and when they turn in a six digit "payment-code" number that you only give to the crew after the job is done if you are satisfied with their job. A drawback is that they don't refund for hours you don't use, and how are you supposed to know how many hours you need?
However, I have had a number of customers tell me that the company called I-Haul on that site has cheated on their reviews by stopping customers from being able to leave a bad review after causing problems with the customers, so I would stay away from I-Haul even though their Movinghelp reviews make them look good.
You can't call the Movinghelp.com listing service to book appointments, you can only book through their website (another drawback). Here's a link to their site.
MEATHEAD MOVERS
Meathead Movers is a FULL SERVICE company that officially has a Satisfaction Guarantee, although I've heard indirectly (through the grape-vine) that they don't always honor it. Their reviews are mostly good, but their biggest drawback is that they use U of O student movers, which means the students are novices and so less likely to know what they're doing. This can waste time, and increase the risk of damages. They charge the Standard Tariff for the Eugene area. 866 828-6764
CASCADE MOVING & LOGISTICS
They have semi-OK reviews online, but they have no Satisfaction Guarantee. When you book them online you have to fill out a form, & pick how many hours you are reserving their services for, and how are you suppose to know how long you'd need them, and what if you guess too high or too low? It seems like a hassle to me. They charge the Standard Tariff for the Eugene area. 541 800-0445
BACKSAVERS
This is a Full Service state-wide moving company with no Satisfaction Guarantee. There's such a mix of movers that this company subcontracts jobs out to that there's a very wide range of the quality of movers who might show up at your door, from OK to not so good. The team you get might be fine, but there is this wild card element. I can say this company cheated me (didn't pay me for a job) when I was just a free-lance moving helper many years back for no reason but that they thought they could get away with it. The owner Josh has a reputation among other movers as being an unethical person. They charge the Standard Tariff for the Eugene area. 541 944-4820
CROSS TOWN MOVERS:
I have heard from several previous movers who have worked for Cross Town that this company tries to get out of every damage-loss claim made against them, even when they know they are at fault. I've also heard from a number of customers that this company had cancelled on them at the last minute, leaving them hanging. This company charges the standard Tariff rates for the Eugene Area (including owing only 60 cents per pound of the damaged or lost item), which even that, I've been told they fight against paying. But they have been around for many many years, and do have their own storage service, which might be what you need. I've also heard there are a "few" good movers over there, among the other not-so-good movers. That's all I know about them.
Their number is: 541 683-5211
THE REST OF THE MOVING COMPANIES THAT SERVICE EUGENE
The rest of these below listed moving companies I either have insufficient knowledge about (I'm working on that), or they have relatively more reported problems compared to the other above listed companies, and to my knowledge they have no SATISFACTION GUARANTEE, so they are not companies I would choose for my own move if I were shopping for a moving company. They all charge the Standard Tariff for the Eugene area.
If you are one of these companies (or any company on this list) I invite you to contact me and be willing to show me evidence that might raise you higher on my list. If you show me why you're better than other companies, you'll fly up this list and get a lot of extra jobs. I'd even be willing to come watch your company do a job & see for myself. Wouldn't cost you a penny, just an invitation to observe. Or if you're a customer with complaints about any moving companies, please contact me so I can incorporate that information into this list.

COASTAL MOVING SERVICES
Coastal Moving Services is at the very bottom of the list on purpose. I have just heard too many bad things about this company from several different customers who used them, largely involving a misrepresentation of the end resulting price, "missing" items, and poor work. I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole. But, it's your call... 561 560-7828

MORE ABOUT THE STANDARD TARIFF RATES
Moving companies that provide their own company truck for transport are supposed to charge what is called the standard "tariff" rates and have the standard tariff set of policies for full service moving companies in the Eugene area, which is defined as follows:
When the term "standard tariff" is used in the above descriptions, these are the rates and policies being described.
However, moving services that are considered a "pack & load" service, meaning "labor only" with you paying separately for your rental truck if needed (usually near $70 for the day use of a small U-Haul truck & gas or $100 for a large U-Haul & gas, a bit more for Penske) do not have their prices regulated, and so their hourly rates can be what ever the company decides to offer, but which is most commonly $55/hr to $60/hr per mover. Pack & Load companies shouldn't be charging for drive time to get to a local job site, so this saves about a half hour of time off your clock right off the bat. You will note that the Standard Tariff of $156.60 per hour for two men and a truck quickly adds up to far more than $55/hr. per mover + the truck cost, especially for longer jobs, making "pack & load" services potentially able to save you a lot of money off the full service option.
But the biggest thing that will save you money is getting a company that knows what they're doing, doesn't waste time, does good work, doesn't damage things, does compensate you fairly if they mess up, and who will be honest and reliable.
